Of all the conditions afflicting chronic pain and inflammation is among the most insidious and depressing. Chronic pain, whether from arthritis, Fibromyalgia or injuries saps our energy and reduces our enjoyment of life. The Western medical establishment has numerous drugs to try to relieve these symptoms and they often do. The difficulty is that many of these drugs are expensive, have life threatening side effects and usually do not solve the underlying problems.
With homeopathy, herbs and nutritional therapy we have safe and effective treatments that can, at times, resolve the underlying condition. We offer here a variety of products which have proven effective. We have arranged them according to condition and have included PDF documents so that you can see the recommended protocols. You can purchase individual supplements or you may purchase complete programs at a 10% discount.
Arthritis - Degenerative Osteoarthritis
A type of arthritis caused by inflammation, breakdown, and eventual loss of the cartilage of the joints. Also called osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis (OS-tee-oh-are-THRY-tis) (OA) is one of the oldest and most common forms of arthritis. Known as the ìwear-and-tearî kind of arthritis, OA is a chronic condition characterized by the breakdown of the joints cartilage. Cartilage is the part of the joint that cushions the ends of the bones and allows easy movement of joints. The breakdown of cartilage causes the bones to rub against each other, causing stiffness, pain and loss of movement in the joint.
Osteoarthritis is known by many different names, including degenerative joint disease, ostoarthrosis, hypertrophic arthritis and degenerative arthritis. Your doctor might choose to use one of these terms to better describe what is happening in your body, but for our purposes, we will refer to all of these as osteoarthritis.
It is thought that osteoarthritis dates back to ancient humans. Evidence of osteoarthritis has been found in ice-aged skeletons. Today, an estimated 21 million Americans live with OA. Despite the longevity and frequency of the disease, the cause is still not completely known and there is no cure. In fact, many different factors may play a role in whether or not you get OA, including age, obesity, injury or overuse and genetics. Your OA could be caused by any one or by a combination of any of these factors

Arthritis - Psoriatic
Psoriatic (sore-EE-AA-tick) arthritis causes pain and swelling in some joints and scaly skin patches on some areas of the body. It is related to the skin condition psoriasis.
What Are the Symptoms?
About 95% of those with psoriatic arthritis have swelling in joints outside the spine, and more than 80% of people with psoriatic arthritis have nail lesions. The course of psoriatic arthritis varies, with most doing reasonably well. Symptoms include:
• Silver or grey scaly spots on the scalp, elbows, knees and/or lower end of the spine.
• Pitting of fingernails/toenails
• Pain and swelling in one or more joints
• Swelling of fingers/toes that gives them a "sausage" appearance.
What Causes It?
The cause is not yet known. It may be partly inherited and environment might play a role.
How Is It Diagnosed?
May involve X-rays, blood tests and joint fluid tests.

Arthritis - Rheumatoid
Rheumatoid arthritis (rue-ma-TOYD arth-write-tis) is a chronic disease, mainly characterized by inflammation of the lining, or synovium, of the joints. It can lead to long-term joint damage, resulting in chronic pain, loss of function and disability.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) progresses in three stages. The first stage is the swelling of the synovial lining, causing pain, warmth, stiffness, redness and swelling around the joint. Second is the rapid division and growth of cells, or pannus, which causes the synovium to thicken. In the third stage, the inflamed cells release enzymes that may digest bone and cartilage, often causing the involved joint to lose its shape and alignment, more pain, and loss of movement.
Because it is a chronic disease, RA continues indefinitely and may not go away. Frequent flares in disease activity can occur. RA is a systemic disease, which means it can affect other organs in the body. Early diagnosis and treatment of RA is critical if you want to continue living a productive lifestyle. Studies have shown that early aggressive treatment of RA can limit joint damage, which in turn limits loss of movement, decreased ability to work, higher medical costs and potential surgery.
RA affects 1 percent of the U.S. population or 2.1 million Americans. Currently, the cause of RA is unknown, although there are several theories. And while there is no cure, it is easier than ever to control RA through the use of new drugs, exercise, joint protection techniques and self-management techniques. While there is no good time to have rheumatoid arthritis, advancements in research and drug development mean that more people with RA are living happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Fibromyalgia
What is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia (FM) is an increasingly recognized chronic pain illness which is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal aches, pain and stiffness, soft tissue tenderness, general fatigue and sleep disturbances. The most common sites of pain include the neck, back, shoulders, pelvic girdle and hands, but any body part can be involved. Fibromyalgia patients experience a range of symptoms of varying intensities that wax and wane over time.
Who is affected?
It is estimated that approximately 3-6% of the U.S. population has FM. Although a higher percentage of women are affected, it does strike men, women and children of all ages and races. Because of its debilitating nature, Fibromyalgia has a serious impact on patients' family, friends, and employers, as well as society at large.
What are the symptoms?
FM is characterized by the presence of multiple tender points and a constellation of symptoms.
Pain The pain of FM is profound, widespread and chronic. It knows no boundaries, migrating to all parts of the body and varying in intensity. FM pain has been described as deep muscular aching, throbbing, twitching, stabbing and shooting pain that defines the very existence of the Fibromyalgia patient. Neurological complaints such as numbness, tingling and burning are often present and add to the discomfort of the patient. The severity of the pain and stiffness is often worse in the morning. Aggravating factors which affect pain include cold/humid weather, non-restorative sleep, physical and mental fatigue, excessive physical activity, physical inactivity, anxiety and stress.
Fatigue In today's world many people complain of fatigue; however, the fatigue of FM is much more than being tired. It is an all-encompassing exhaustion that interferes with even the simplest daily activities. It feels like every drop of energy has been drained from the body, which at times can leave the patient with a limited ability to function both mentally and physically.
Sleep Problems Many Fibromyalgia patients have an associated sleep disorder which prevents them from getting deep, restful, restorative sleep. Medical researchers have documented specific and distinctive abnormalities in the stage 4 deep sleep of FM patients. During sleep, individuals with FM are constantly interrupted by bursts of awake-like brain activity, limiting the amount of time they spend in deep sleep.
Other symptoms Additional symptoms may include: irritable bowel and bladder, headaches and migraines, restless legs syndrome (periodic limb movement disorder), impaired memory and concentration, skin sensitivities and rashes, dry eyes and mouth, anxiety, depression, ringing in the ears, dizziness, vision problems, raynaud's syndrome, neurological symptoms and impaired coordination.

Pain & Inflammation - Acute
second area where we find the western approach taking a symptomatic turn is in the area of energy and fatigue. Based on the widespread use of coffee, teas and sugar, loss of energy is a major modern complaint. For awhile it seems to work to use stimulants to increase our feeling of energy but over time this approach causes the body to run down. Over time we still have the fatigue and we need to use more and stronger stimulants to get the same benefit.

Pain/Oxycontin Addiction Nutritional Support Protocol
Oxycontin addition has become a topic of concern. Intended as a painkiller, oxycontin addiction has become a serious problem despite legitimate use. An oxycontin addiction has been compared to quitting heroin. For many patients prescribed oxycontin without the knowledge that oxycontin addiction could occur were left with withdrawal symptoms.
Oxycontin addiction requires the close eye of a medical doctor to discontinue the patients treatment because oxycontin withdrawal can be very severe. The patient becoming physically dependent on the drug characterizes Oxycontin addiction and their body develops a tolerance for the drug. As time develops the oxycontin addiction will require the individual to need larger quantities of oxycontin for the same previous effect.

5-HTP Synergy

$27
|
5HTP Synergy by Designs for Health
Our modern, stressful lives lower levels of the feel-good neurotransmitter serotonin. Serotonin depletion leads to food cravings, depression, and other mood disorders. The pharmaceutical industry has responded to the serotonin crisis by creating a wide array of medications which seek to restore serotonin metabolism. A better approach may be to replete serotonin naturally by using its precursor, 5-hydroxytryptophan (5HTP). Naturally restoring serotonin levels may help promote healthy mood levels and may also reduce food cravings.* Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P), the activated form of vitamin B6, is included in this formula to support overall neurotransmitter metabolism.

What if there were one nutrient which could help you lose weight, increase energ , lower cholesterol, and promote heart health? Carnitine does all that and more. Carnitine accomplishes this by promoting fat burning. Carnitine is the only nutrient that can transport fat to the part of the cell that burns it off: the mitochondria. If you can’t get fat into the mitochondria, you can’t burn it. So no carnitine, no fat burning. Higher carnitine levels, on the other hand, allow our body to burn fat at an optimal rate. Carnitine is sometimes called an amino acid, but it is not. It is similar in structure
to B vitamins, especially choline. However, carnitine is not a true vitamin because the body makes it in small amounts. Carnitine is also found in animal products, especially red meat. Unless you are eating pounds of red meat a day, however, you are probably not getting enough carnitine.
Signs of inadequate carnitine intake include:
Fatigue
Progressive Weight Gain
High Cholesterol and Triglycerides
Weak Heart Function
Lack of Mental Focus
Poor Immune Function1
Ingredients:
L-Carnitine (from L-Carnitine Tartrate) 400 mg
